ADHD Therapy in NYC
Are focus struggles, distractions, or constant mental noise making life harder to manage?
When your brain is always on — a dozen tabs open, time slipping, motivation crashing — life can start to feel chaotic and small. ADHD is real and treatable. Our clinicians help you quiet the noise, build systems that stick, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
What is ADHD?
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, working memory, and planning (executive functioning). It commonly presents as:
Inattentive symptoms: distractibility, forgetfulness, time-blindness, difficulty starting/finishing tasks.
Hyperactive/impulsive symptoms: restlessness, fidgeting, interrupting, quick decisions you later regret.
Combined presentation: features of both.
ADHD can look different across cultures and genders. Many women and people of color mask symptoms for years, mistaking burnout, anxiety, or “laziness” for the core issue.
ADHD is more than being “busy” or “disorganized.”
It’s the frequency, intensity, and functional impact, such as missed deadlines, spirals of shame, conflict at home, irregular sleep — all these things set ADHD apart from everyday distraction. Left unaddressed, it can disrupt school, work, relationships, and rest. With targeted support, you can build sustainable routines and feel more in control.
What can ADHD sound or feel like?
ADHD shows up differently across gender, culture, and race. Because of this, we start by listening to what brings you in — your story, strengths, and stressors —then bring our evidence-based, culturally responsive ADHD therapy and coaching to co-create a plan that fits your values, language, and daily life.
At Vida Sana Psychology & Wellness, we specialize in supporting college students and adults who have recently been diagnosed with ADHD or are beginning to wonder if ADHD might be part of their story.
Time disappears. “I blink and two hours are gone. Deadlines sneak up even when I’m organized.”
Starts, stops, and spirals. “I make detailed plans, but starting feels impossible—and once I stall, shame takes over.”
A racing mind. “My brain never shuts off. I’m juggling work, family, and messages while still feeling behind.”
Perfectionism and procrastination. “If I can’t do it perfectly, I put it off—then I’m rushing and beating myself up.”
Invisible labor overload. “I handle everything at home and work. One missed task feels like proof I’m failing.”
Decision fatigue. “Small choices drain me. By 3pm, I’m mentally done.”
Time blindness. “Everything takes longer than I expect—or I avoid it entirely.”
Organization whiplash. “I buy planners and apps, but nothing sticks for long.”
Rejection sensitivity. “One bit of feedback and I spiral. I start thinking — ‘They think I’m incompetent.’”
Masking and burnout. “People think I’m fine, but I’m exhausted from holding it all together.”
Relationship strain. “I forget plans, lose track of texts, or interrupt—and it hurts the people I care about.”
Body and brain burnout. “My sleep, meals, and energy feel unpredictable and all over the place.”
Late diagnosis confusion. “I’ve always been responsible and driven. How can I be both successful and struggling?”
Cultural pressure. “I was raised to work harder and not complain. Talking about ADHD feels like admitting failure.”
